Lizardmen 01

Starting my first Lizardmen army Part 01.

We’ve been walking through this damn jungle for six days now. Lustria or whatever the locals call it. I don’t care what this damn hell is called. The promised treasure we’re supposed to find in a town called Tlaxtlan is hopefully worth the torture.
We’ve already lost three men. Kurt, the Reiklander, bitten by a poisonous snake that struck so silently that we barely noticed. Gomez, hit by a small blowpipe dart, soaked in that frog venom they had warned us about. The shooter was nowhere to be seen, hidden in the dense green hell. And then there was Ottario, who had a high fever for three days and collapsed in the last night’s camp.

When we examined him, he had centimeter-long worms under his skin and thick boils on his legs. I can’t get rid of the sight. Our clothes are rotting off our bodies, our armor is rusting from the inside out, the mosquitoes are eating us alive and the men are demotivated. Captain Jäger has his hands full keeping the troops motivated.
The little old man called Tukutetcha is our guide, he must have grown up here and knows the area quite well, but I don’t really trust him.
Today we are stranded by a strange rock formation. I have the feeling we are being watched… Sometimes I hear the soft hissing of a hungry lizard’s mouth and hope that these lizard people are just a legend….
