“Skil nak! Skil krak! Nogu Shraug norag…!” – These were Plebbo’s last words as he was swallowed by Shraug, the black Lindwurm, in one bite.
The laughter of the goblin shaman Glatzok resounded long and ever deeper into the tunnels of the misty mountains. The goblins, or rather nightgoblins, live in these caves and tunnels and have always fought bitterly with the dwarves, which, well, usually doesn’t end so well for the nightgoblins. Nevertheless, the sheer number of these little green bastards is unstoppable and conflicts with the dwarves are therefore inevitable.
A Lindwurm fighting alongside a nightgoblin is pretty much out of the question…
The reason why Shraug fights with Glatzok is that the night goblin has dulled the Lindwurm’s mind so hard with his mushroom beer that the Lindwurm thinks it is still fighting under Gorak Bloodpuke, his old orc chief.
The mushrooms, grown in the abandoned tunnels, are used by the nightgoblin shamans for various brews and not least for the Fanatics, a special unit of the Night Goblins, who are given their true power by the mushroom beer. More on this at a later chapter…
Back to Shraug. If it happens that Glatzok forgets to feed the brew to the great Lindwurm – which, considering the size of this monster and the size of the goblins, is an almost constantly life-threatening endeavor – it happens that Shraug eats the nightgoblins of his own ranks. Now – of course, who would have thought – Glatzok sometimes intentionally „forgets“ feeding the brew so that he can watch the rampaging Lindwurm carry out its brutal massacre just to satisfy his own bloodlust.
Let this be a brief introduction to the nightgoblin way of life. Considering that these little bastards have wiped out entire civilizations, they are not to be underestimated and are of course part of the 18 – volume book of my war research at the University of Altdorf.
